Hi guys! Thanks so much for posting my illustrations – I’m glad you like them! I really enjoyed the show, although I am holding off on listening to the Breaking Bad section until I can catch up in a few days. I just finished BB Season 4. By the way, did you see that AMC totally blew the end of S4 with their “Long Live the King” teaser for S5? I DVRed their marathon in June to catch up, and when I was in the middle of S2, I saw a promo that completely gave away the end of S4. That was not cool at all! I think they do the same thing with Sophia coming out of the barn on Walking Dead promos. Those moments are big payoffs that shouldn’t be spoiled in a trailer, in my opinion (and I’m not always a huge stickler for avoiding spoilers, either).
Haven’t finished yet. (listen as I commute) The DISH thing I think is partly due to peeps like me. We have Top 120 (100 of which are BS channels and does not include AMC). For $15/mth I can level up, but I’m not doing that for 1 show when I can catch it next day on vudu- (which is the beef DISH has, partly anyway). DISH has been the best value for our family for years, but now fiberoptic cable has made another option available to us with many more watchable channels for around the same as we pay now. Sorry DISH, but it’s a no-brainer for this Dead fan.
still working my way through Breaking Bad. just about finished with season 3 right now. i definitely like where it’s gone and i’m at least thankful that it’s there to help me get over my severe lack of zombies!
I had a few thoughts on the podcast, but then realized that they may be spoilers for those who aren’t up to date, so I’ll keep them to myself. :p Jason, I must say that I am shocked… SHOCKED that Nate Fischer made your list. O_o
Is it that obvious that I’d like Nate Fisher?
Yes; although I forgave Nate for all the selfish things he had done over the course of the series, I still didn’t like him, and most certainly didn’t wish I could BE like him. :p Nate was actually the character that pissed me off the most!! I just finished watching the series last week, so my feelings for him are still very fresh, if you can’t tell. ;) BTW, every time I saw Billy Chenowith, I’d think “DAMN that guy looks like Jason!!” Heh.
Gracie, yep, highly flawed character. It’s been awhile since I watched the series, so I don’t remember all the details of his indiscretions. I just remember I was impressed with the impact he made on the families of the recently deceased, and that he was bold and honest and wanted to live in the moment.
Janalee, I watched Tom Baker as a kid, but I really liked Eccleston to and was bummed he didn’t have a longer stint as the doctor. I think he’s underrated.
So do you listen to any Doctor Who podcasts, and if so, please share. I’m desperate for a good one.
I thought Nate was an inspired choice. Like Jason, I related to Nate quite a bit. First of all, permanent stubble… Good look. Second, my mom had an AVM as well. She lived… but stroked out additionally (which I didn’t mention when you were talking about Diving Bell…). Great show in so many ways… Brenda always pissed me off more than Nate.
And Grace…. I can see the Jeremy Sisto – Jason resemblance.
Yeah, I see some of myself in Nate, which is probably why I don’t like the guy. :p He had a decent life, but just didn’t know how to be content with it. I’m not sure if that is a gift that you are born with or something practiced, but it’s something I definitely struggle with. I do agree with you, Jason, that Nate was good with the grieving families, but I’m not sure I would describe the guy as honest – he couldn’t keep his damned pants on to save his life!! I also don’t think it is bold to always be looking for happiness at the expense of the people that you ‘love’ – he was constantly making poor decisions and hurting them. Nate usually treated strangers better than he did his own family. The guy had the emotional maturity of an 18 year old, IMO. He was a great character and fun to watch, though…
Oh, also, I meant to mention that I kept on singing the theme to Greatest American hero, even after Karen had stopped. My brother and I used to watch that show all the time. :)
Same here….
I suddenly feel old. Heh. :p
