Numerous sites are reporting that Scott Gimple is finalizing a deal to become executive producer and showrunner when The Walking Dead returns for it’s 4th season. According to which report you read, Gimple is either nearing the deal (TV Line), finalizing the deal (Deadline) or has wrapped up the deal (Vulture). How long do you give him?

Well he did write Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance so I’m not exactly thrilled.

He also wrote Pretty much dead already in season 2 and 18 miles out in season two of TWD… In a season full of lackluster episodes, those two actually stood out as being pretty well written. I like the choice… I think he lasts 1 season.

I think Gimple was the logical choice, but I’m not sure how I feel about it. I think he’ll stick it out until the end. Hopefully, that is more than one season. :/

I’ll bet a frosty cold beer that he leaves after one season. Any takers? :)

IDK, man. I’m behind on my reading and listening, so I really don’t know the deal w/ Mazzara. Does this mean Gimple is getting w/ AMC’s program, or will they give him a little freedom?

1.5 seasons.
1.5 seasons.
1.5 is the average…. but I’ll go with 1.

I’m thinking he’ll be a puppet for Kirkman and the network higher-ups who will actually be running the show. Until it tanks after one season. Then they’ll blame Gimple and show him the door. One season, tops.
Whoa. For the record, that was Karen up there. I’m more hopeful.

A good way to tell us apart is that I make ill-advised beer bets. :)

And I hope he lasts way longer than a year – and that he rocks it.

Haha @ ill-advised bets! :D Karen, I figured it was you, since the word ‘frosty’ was used to describe the beer. It just sounds more like you than Jason. :)
Of course we all want him to rock it…. and if so, that he sticks around for 10+ seasons… but AMC’s track record lately leaves little room for optimism.
